Rudi Verspoor and Patty Smith have between them over 30 years of extensive clinical experience in treating complex and chronic illnesses using homeopathy and, in particular, Heilkunst, the complete system of medicine created by the founder of homeopathy, Dr Hahnemann. They have written various books based on their research and clinical experience. They are both directors of the Hahnemann Clinic for Heilkunst and the Hahnemann College for Heilkunst, both run by the Hahnemann Center for Heilkunst Trust, the first federally-registered charitable institute for alternative medicine in Canada.

Both are Doctors of Homeopathy and Doctors of Medical Heilkunst (DMH) and board members of the Canadian and International Heilkunst Association (CIHA). Rudi and Patty also served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Canadian national homeopathic professional association, NUPATH, an organisation they helped to found.
